Have you ever wondered why people lose their teeth when they get older? Let’s face it we all know when babies are born, they will get baby teeth and lose those. Then they will get permanent teeth. Granted as people age, sometimes they are losing teeth due to poor oral health or even a lack of oral health. Do you realize that dental care often times seems like it the one thing that people will easily put on the back burner?
Recently, I read a article in Chescotimes.com that discussed Tooth Loss. Dr. Stephanie McGann shared the top ten reasons why people lose teeth. Check it out here – http://chescotimes.com/?p=9885 .
The one I believe most people will relate to is “Waiting til it hurts”. How many of you reading this, are guilty of falling into that category? Now I understand why that happens. No dental insurance, already know that it is going to cost a lot of money and lastly, think it is not serious until it hurts.
When it comes to teeth, the longer you wait, the worse it gets. Dr. Wagner can attest to this from having a tooth that was hurting pretty bad one weekend. That followed with face swelling. By Sunday, she was calling Teledoctor to get some relief until she could get into the dentist office.
They were able to call in a prescription for antibiotics for her and start helping the pain and swelling. Talk about couldn’t stand it. Believe me, she has a high tolerance for pain and this was really taking it out of her. Once she finally saw a dentist there were several more days of waiting until the swelling was gone before they could take extract it.
How many of you know, once you are in pain you want it gone? There was no saving that teeth. Did you know about these top ten reasons people lose teeth?
