Believe me when I tell you, we are having some fun keeping you all updated on what is happening in the health and dental industry. As we were doing some research regarding the lack of dental care which usually happens due to cost, we discovered this fabulous story regarding being overcharged at the dentist office.
The story has more to due with dental insurance which from first hand experience, we know you will still come out of pocket paying more than what the insurance is worth. Yet there were some very eye-opening statistics in this story.
The Dental Care Affordability and Accessibility survey found 33 million Americans have visited the dentist only once or not at all in the past 10 years.
You know what the number one fear is… now for Dr. Wagner it would be that drilling sound when they are working on your teeth. We digress, not for the general public. The number one fear is costs.
Let’s face it when you go to the dentist for one problem, you end up getting a grocery list of what is wrong with your teeth. Not only do you get a list, then they also tell you how much each problem situation is going to costs you. Once you look at the total bill, you just as soon wish you never even set foot in a dentist office.
Let us share one of Dr. Wagner’s dental horror stories: It was easily six years ago and she had a tooth that was hurting. She just knew she was going to need a root canal based on how it felt. Sure enough, she went in and that is what they recommended. Oh yea, she didn’t get away without that grocery list of here’s what wrong with your mouth. At that time, we had a dental insurance plan that we hadn’t ever used before.
She went back a couple of days later to have the root canal. While they were working on this procedure, the tooth crumbled. Talk about being in some pain afterwards from the procedure and THE INSURANCE didn’t cover nothing!! Double PAIN!!
Today we have an AWESOME dental plan that saved us over $900 the first time we used it. Go to our dental page to get more information.
