Would you call Obamacare’s first tax season a win or a loss? As Dr. Wagner was doing her research, she read an article that stated the IRS was declaring a victory. Hmm, were they look at the same situations she was looking at. Let’s review:
1) Healthcare.gov sent out 800,000 incorrect 1095-A’s. This would take over 30 days for people to get an updated one. Is that a good for people who were counting on their income tax return?
2) Covered California sent out 100,000 incorrect 1095-A’s. Seems as if they would be taking a while to get those to the taxpayers also.
People had filed their tax return in the California instance with the WRONG INFORMATION and were told they would have to file an amended return. Let’s face it unless you are a fan of doing taxes, having to do them a second time could be very frustrating.
Delays and then potentially finding out that you owe a part of the subsidy. Oh that’s right – this hasn’t happened yet because the people have not filed their tax return. Imagine what the media will look like when hundreds of thousands of people owe the subsidy!! Will their be a mass exodus from health insurance plans? Or will they keep it quiet so that people don’t find out the number who stayed enrolled this year is less.
Are you someone who had to pay back part of the subsidy? We encourage you to go to our home page and share your story with us. We are conducting interviews regarding health insurance, the premium and the penalty to share with our readers.
There are people who are silent because they believe they are the only one dealing with health insurance problems and maybe even financial pressures. Let’s show them they are not alone. We will not be using names. Talk to us!!
