Let it start. Here we are the sixth day of January and the TRUTH is surfacing about health insurance. It is not a surprise to us because we have been telling people there are people struggling to pay those premiums, deductibles and cannot even afford to go to the doctor. Were you prepared for the mountain of debt that has come? Yet they felt, I must get health insurance so I won’t be penalized. Once again I ask, what do you have when you are paying a monthly premium and struggling? Do you have peace of mind? Are you thinking how am I going to pay that other bill that I can no longer afford to pay? Does it cause more stress and strain that needs to be there?
Today’s article is titled The Trouble with For-Profit Healthcare: Even the Insured face Mountains of Debt. Should taking care of your health be a burden? Absolutely not, it should be met with peace knowing that you are in control. Yet that is not what is happening for most people. Below are some of the sacrifices people are making for health insurance:
- Delaying vacations or major household purchases (77%),
- Spending less on food, clothing and basic household items (75%)
- Using up most or all their savings (63%)
- Taking an extra job or working more hours (42%)
Just from those few items we listed, that is not the way it should be. People need to be able to take a vacation and rejuvenate themselves. If you have to work an extra job or working more hours, is that money actually going back into your household budget or is it strictly going towards health insurance? So where does that get someone?
I’m not an advocate of someone using up all of their savings either. What happens when they truly need a medical procedure and that health insurance company they have been faithfully paying tells them no! They’ve sacrificed vacations, savings accounts and even taken on second jobs… Don’t make us talk about the decline in meeting their basic household needs. You cannot get us to believe this is good.
It is now 2016!! Will you be the one to take control of your health? Or will you be the one who is making decisions out of fear?
We will wait for a comment!
